First Snowman of 2025 in Reflected Light, Jacquelyn Block

Last night’s snow was significant enough for me to shovel and ‘sticky’ enough to make a snowman. My youngest has been eagerly awaiting this day and so after breakfast we bundled up and started working. It wasn’t quite perfect packing snow, so we ended up mounding up the snowman’s segments and then let them sit while the snow metamorphosed. Later in the afternoon we assembled him then found some sticks for arms and I loaned it my scarf.

We then made a couple mini snowmen friends and had a good snowball fight. It was a great way to enjoy the snow.

Last night after I posted, I checked my email and found that I had my piece, Personal Dance Party in Reflected Light, accepted into the Body Eclectic show at Lawrence Street Gallery upcoming in February. I highly admire the juror, Carole Morisseau. She is a talented artist and such an interesting speaker. She has demonstrated for the palette club as well as a critique before our last show. I’m looking forward to hearing her at the opening reception.

If you are in an area that gets snow, what is your favorite snowy day activity?
