Me with ‘Star Stuff,’ photo by June Nash

Today was the opening reception for the Sky & Space exhibition at Anton Art Center. Our group, Lakeside Palette Club, along with four other area art groups participate in two group shows a year. There are a lot of talented artists in Metro Detroit and I feel honored when my art is chosen to be part of the show.

The show is fantastic and if you are in the area you should definitely make the trip to check out all the work on display.

Detroit Grit in Filtered Light, Jacquelyn Block

This afternoon I worked on a Detroit Lions inspired Filtered Light piece in honor of their Playoff game. Sadly they did not advance and our season is over, but what a season it was. It is disappointing as we were all hoping for a Superbowl appearance, but there is always next year. I’ve always cheered the Lions on even when we lost most of our games. It’s great seeing the community cheering them on through their wins and losses.

Next weekend is the opening for my next show, the Grosse Pointe Artists Association’s My Team exhibition at the War Memorial. I have three piece which I dropped off this morning. My first Filtered light prints in a show, with one more accepted into a February show at Lawrence Street Gallery in Ferndale.
