Today I wanted to work on a self portrait with my new Derwent Inktense pencil in Payne’s Grey. This will eventually be painted over with watercolor and the inktense will activate and be permanent when it dries. As I add layers of watercolor the under painting will show through. But for today I just worked on the sketch. And since I rather like it I decided to play around with my Filtered Light process before I potentially ruin it with my experiment.

I made several iterations with distinctive results. Tomorrow or the next day I’ll go back to the drawing and start to add color. But for now I’m finished, between the cold weather and my little guy recovering from a cold, I’m ready to curl up under my blankets. Tomorrow will be another frigid day and the kids are sure to be a bit stir crazy, being cooped up inside with school and activities canceled for two days.
