I finally went through my art this afternoon to choose which pieces to enter for the Portrait Show at Posterity Gallery. The deadline is tomorrow, and in my endeavor to not wait until the last minute, I submitted my entry today. Of course my pear faces were a given, as I can’t wait to show them off. I also entered the photograph of Leif at the Riverwalk, a watercolor of my friends at the Henry Ford Museum, one of my ceramic face sculptures, a watercolor of my son on a boat ride, and a charcoal and sanguine drawing that was the original sketch for the filtered light version of Personal Soundtrack. A good representation of my various mediums. I was going to submit a filtered light piece but my son wanted the watercolor of himself instead and I can’t say no to that gap toothed smile. I’ll definitely have to draw a picture of him before his adult tooth fills it in.

I also had an idea for a mock-umentory movie which I started to outline. Here is my logline: In a world where reanimated corpses have been integrated into the workforce, a controversial documentary exposes the exploitation of zombie labor, following corporate leaders, resistance activists, and an undead performer who may still remember what it means to be human.
I was browsing through my word files when I came across a paper I wrote for a literature course I had taken. I was analyzing the use of zombies to make social commentary, in particular, portraying zombies as victims rather than the aggressors. That combined with having recently watched the Cunk on Earth series. It was really funny, if you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend watching it with a friend. It is best shared with someone. My enjoyment was amplified by the laughter of my husband and kids.
