Iterations, Jacquelyn Block

Today was the opening of the Body Eclectic Show at the Lawrence Street Gallery, and I was inspired by all the wonderful art filling the walls. I truly feel honored to have my piece hanging amongst art by artists I admire. I love all the art that the juror, Carole Morisseau chose for the show. Attending events like these really fuel my passion and creativity, and so tonight I decided to try something different for me using my pastels.

I had a lot of fun making this face in a similar style to my Filtered Light series, going for a stained glass feel. I originally was going to trace the geometric shapes with black, but I decided I liked it how it was without those hard lines. When I finished, I realized that I need to blend with something other than my fingertip- I have sanded the fingerprint off my middle finger. Blending with the paper towel is far less painful. After photographing my final work I then, of course, gave it the filtered light treatment. I like both, but I think I prefer the pastel version the best.

Which do you prefer, the pastel or filtered light version?
