We had our first significant snow fall of the year overnight and this morning I was out Shoveling at 6 am to clear the way for my husband to head to work. There was a lot, but at least it was fairly fluffy and light, so I was able to do all of the sidewalk, approach, and the driveway up to the house before the cold got to my finger through my shoveling gloves.

Since there was a snow day I was hoping to be able to go back to sleep for a bit, but my youngest was up at his usual time, eager to play video games with me. In the afternoon, I went over to my sister’s house to clear her snow and boy did the snow get heavier by afternoon. While I was working my sisters neighbors came by to walk their dog and this young man showed me his snow chunk. I thought it looked like a fish and he posed for a picture with his catch. He then entertained me by showing me all the differently shaped snow chunks he could find. I told him he had an artist’s imagination!

Every big snow fall reminds me of the winter my husband was away for Army training and our daughter was a toddler. It snowed so much that winter and I would bundle her up and shove her extra gloves in every pocket and go out and shovel. She was such a cutie, that it would take me twice as long because I’d have to take pictures!
What are some of your fond memories of snow?
