Today we had a winter paint out, but winter really asserted itself and only my mom who was hosting and I braved the snow for the event. Since it was just the two of us we sat on the covered porch to protect our paper from the falling snow.

I ‘warmed’ up with a drawing of the snow covered bushes in front of me. I was using my black Japanese-made sketch pen, and it held up quite well. And the very end it seemed like the cold was starting to change the feel of it a little, but it held up remarkably well.

I decided to sketch my mom working on her painting for my second sketch of the day. I think it turned out pretty well for a moving target on a cold day.
I also entered my submissions for the Michigan Watercolor Society show. I decided on my Thistles painting and Friends.

Have you ever tried painting outside in winter?
