I was thinking of doing something experimental today, but after my busy day and a late evening from celebrating my youngest son’s school musical performance, I opted to make a new painting in my pastel houseplants series. Since I’m pretty tired I figured I’d take it easy on myself and chose a snake plant as my inspiration. If I am remembering correctly we had multiple snake plants while I was growing up. I think ours was in a plain terra cotta pot, but I used my artistic license to make the pot rectangular. I was inspired by my basket in progress across the room.

I think it looks neat as a filtered light piece. I think my rectangular pot is even more realistic in this version. I’m really enjoying making these paintings with dramatic shadows thrown by the plant. They are a lot of fun to make.
What is a fun thing you’ve done today or yesterday?
