Coneflower Friend, Jacquelyn Block

Today there was a high temperature of 70 degrees- yes it was wet and windy- but spring is definitely on the way. It got me thinking of flowers and bees and I thought that I’d take those thoughts to the canvas tonight. I was working with my Inktense sticks again today on the gessoed canvas squares. I wanted a softer look today so I used my brush to apply the paint today as if they were just really big half pans of paint. It works well when you want a less intense look than what I was going for in the orange painting from yesterday.

I am planning on donating art to the Detroit Artists Market for their Flood relief event at BasBlue at the end of the month. I think this might be a good piece for the auction.

Wizard Gnome

I also got a call this afternoon that one of my gnomes sold from Lawrence Street Gallery – my first sale there as a new member. That is a good start and a good part of the way to covering my monthly rent there which is, of course, my goal at minimum.

Do you think the coneflower would make a good donation or should I pick a pottery piece?
