Tonight I wanted to make a companion piece to my earlier pastel painting of a pear on a blue plate. I thought about putting in a pear, but I decided that it tells more of a story; that the pear on the plate was removed from the fruit bowl.
After I started I realized that the pear was painted on the sanded paper, lending it a much more vibrant look. I may come back to this one tomorrow and add water like I did on Friday with the landscape. Or even redo it on the right paper.
Fruit sounds really good right now, but it’s too late for me to be eating. I’ll have to wait for breakfast. I think spring spurs my eagerness for the farmers market to reopen bringing the delicious fruits I enjoy throughout the growing year.
What images and ideas does spring conjure up for you?
