My twentieth anniversary is coming up next month so for today’s pastel painting I decided the next piece in my house plant series would be a money tree. We didn’t have this type of plant growing up, but we didn’t use them as decorations at our wedding reception. I took two home and they didn’t thrive in our dark apartment. One remained when we moved into our house and that one thrived for years in the corner window of the kitchen. I lack much of a green thumb, but having plants in the window behind my kitchen sink is perfect. They get lots of light and I have easy access to water to keep them from dying.
I am in the same boat as yesterday’s painting on whether I should use water to blend the colors or leave it as is. These are much more vibrant than the landscape was, so it’s not as obvious a choice for me.
Tomorrow I will be working my shift at Lawrence street and will take my paper and pastels with me and play some more. Maybe I be inspired to make a choice with more experience under my belt.
Do you ever find yourself stuck on the next steps for a painting?
