Grapes, Jacquelyn Block

Today I was using the supplies in my most recent sketch box shipment for our weekly Zoom with June session. I decided to make a pear- no surprise there- for my trial run. I liked how it turned out so I figured I could make a coordinating picture of a bunch of grapes. The grapes were much more of a chalk for me as I don’t think I’ve ever painted or sketched them before. Luckily for me with acrylic painting you can go over and redo it until you like it without it getting muddy and overworked like in watercolor.

With as bright as the paints seem in the jars, they really weren’t as bright on the canvas. I do like how they work as a set though. I’ll have to find a pair of 4×6 frames and sell them as a set I think. They are on canvas sheets so I’ll need to mount them before framing. I’ve never tried that so it’ll be a new experience for me.

What new techniques or mediums have you tried this week?
