Emerald Bug, Jacquelyn Block

Today’s watercolor painting challenge prompt was emerald. I rattled several ideas around in my head before deciding I wanted to make an emerald bodied bug. I had been drawing a lot of bugs a few years ago and I have gotten my bug legs much more organic than the previous attempts. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull it off, especially since I’m so tired after a long day.

The nice thing about taking part in challenges like this is that they often push you right out of your comfort zone into new territory. It’s nice to stretch my artistic muscles now and again. After all, don’t want to burn everyone out on my sleepy pears.

Today was our annual meeting and election for the new season of the Lakeside Palette Club. I am officially president for another year. This is going to be my last though, I think it’s good to get fresh blood and new ideas into the club.

Do you take any leadership positions in your creative groups?
