Today I wasn’t sure what to paint so I just started flipping through pictures on my phone. I came across the photo I took of Antonio for the Gilda Snowden Memorial Exhibition and decided to paint a portrait of my Antonio. The actual sculpture is up on the bookcase next to me way up top where he should be safe from dart guns, broom handles and curious visitors until I bring him to the Scarab Club for the show. So I painted him from the picture I took.
I have a growing collection of paintings done of various ceramic and pottery pieces I’ve made. It’s interesting how much mileage you can get out of a single idea. Often it goes from idea list to sketch book to ceramic piece or pieces and then a painting or two.
