Spot a Good Book, Jacquelyn Block

Today I made my second attempt at the watercolor bookmark with the masking fluid, using the actual watercolor paper. The paper, no surprise held up much better than in my last attempt. I applied the masking fluid a bit too thick and it took forever to dry. I decided to speed up the process by flicking the paper left then right to splatter out the pooled masking fluid so it would dry faster. It gave an interesting effect, eve though it wasn’t quite what I was going for. Abstract designs are maybe best for me until I get the technique down on applying the fluid. I liked layering the colors around ind inside the rings. I’ll maybe gift my friends and family books this Christmas with my homemade bookmarks inside.

What new techniques have you experimented with lately?

    Interesting experiment!

Yesterday, I decided to start repainting over a part of a sky in a sunset scene. Initially, it looked like it would clash with the orange-yellow-red area, but I didn’t let that stop me. Now that the paint is dry, the result is very satisfying
