Today I decided I needed to at least start another gouache painting, even though my asthma is still lingering. This evening I started to paint a landscape with birch trees. I am not using any reference photos for this so far. I started with the paint still left on my palette, and decided to do the first layer or two tonight and finish it tomorrow. This will give me plenty of drying time before I start with the thicker coats of fresh paint too.

I spent today with my daughter before returning her to her dorm, all provisioned up until Thanksgiving break. She brought an extra tree we had in the basement and her roommates decorated it. It was nice having her home for the weekend.
We caught the tail end of the line of storms passing through SE Michigan this evening. It didn’t last long but the wind was ripping and the rain pouring. I wonder if our trees still have leaves clinging yet. I’ll find out tomorrow on the walk to the bus stop.
Do you still have leaves on the trees by you?
