Windpower

This evening my mom, son and I attended a Poetry Slam at Anton, and while I listened to the poems, my eyes were drawn to the landscape artworks on the gallery walls. It inspired me to try my hand painting with pastels from a picture I took while driving in Ontario last summer. The sun was getting ready to set and the sky was a beautiful mix of colors, which were reflected in the wind turbines peppering the fields. I had this picture in a folder of images I want to use for watercolor references, but I thought it would look lovely in pastels.

I am very pleased with how this turned out and I think I’d even enter this in a show. I am really enjoying using the pastels and think I’ll keep this as one of my primary mediums along with watercolor and ceramics.

What medium have you tried recently, or want to give a try?

I really want to go back to oils, I have been using acrylic for the past years and even though they are slower to dry oils remain my favorite. This painting is amazing brava

Thanks! Have you tried water soluble oils? I hear they have all the workability of oils but are far easier to clean up.
