Yay. I was able to finish typing up my rough draft for my screenplay for the NYCMidnight competition. I am only over-long by a wee bit. I have 24 out of a max of 12 pages. So tomorrow I’ll be editing, and editing and editing. I have a terrific group of readers who help me considerably with this next step.
In 1930s Chicago, a Black FBI agent investigating a mobster for tax evasion stumbles upon a series of missing persons cases—leading him and a cynical plumber into the city’s underground tunnels, where something ancient, intelligent, and insatiable is waiting.
I really love my characters and hope that I can keep all their essentials even when paring the script down. This is the first time I’ve been so much over on my rough draft. I knew early on it was going to be an issue, but decided to get it all written out with my vision before beginning to chop out bits and pieces.
Have you written a screenplay before?
