Today I was thinking about my pottery orchid and wondering if it made it through the kiln firing intact. I am quite excited to see how it turned out. Perhaps I’ll have time to stop by the clay studio tomorrow to check on it.

In the meantime I decided to try painting pastels over watercolor and figured I best try it out on an orchid design, given my preoccupation. I almost stopped after the underpainting as I thought it looked pretty cool. I’m glad I didn’t though because the final result is much better.
Have you ever been tempted to stop a planned artwork at an early stage?
