Bridge in Albany, NY, Jacquelyn Block

Today’s prompt of a ‘bridge over a river’ instantly reminded me of this neat bridge near the Holiday Inn we stayed at while in Albany last summer. I loved the view so much I dragged my poor husband down an embankment and next to the highway traffic to get a good picture.

I love bridges, but find them challenging to paint because they require a precision that doesn’t come naturally to me. This little painting took three hours for me to make. I will sell it for 5 dollars at Lawrence Street Gallery. My hourly rate is terrible for things like these, but they provide me with practice for larger paintings for which I charge more.

If you sell your art, do you charge by the time spent or a flat rate based on size or some other method?
